Introducing… Whimsy and “The Ice Bridge”
So to go along with the three features already on this site (M3, Music From The OC, and The New British Invasion), I’m introducing another recurring feature, a non-music-related whimsical section, centered on humorous happenings in my life and the musings of Andrew “Vanderslice” Van der Vaart. I guess the first installment will be the best conversation I’ve ever had in my life, which occurred last night and was centered on the enthralling topic that is our ancestors and the ice bridge.
ANDREW: Hey guys, remember when our ancestors crossed the ice bridge?
DEREK: Yeah, that was pretty sweet.
ERIC: Yeah definitely.
(group takes a moment to ponder)
ERIC: I bet it was just done on like a series of drunken dares. Like, “Hey, look at that ice bridge, I bet you won’t cross it.” And then Ogelthorpe totally took the dare too seriously and started crossing it.
DEREK: Yeah, and then everyone was like “Shit, Ogelthorpe’s crazy, someone should stop him or something.” And so then they were all, “Yeah, someone should go get him. Let’s all gather up our entire civilization and go after him. Yeah.”
ANDREW: Yeah, fuckin’ Ogelthorpe and shit.
