Jammie Jams!
I just spent an hour on this post only to have it vanish when I tried to save it as a draft. Awesome! Hopefully the charm of the original is recaptured here, but I make no guarantees.
“Awh yeah, I’m gonna go outside in my awesome new spiderman jammies and listen to All Things Go’s awesome new sleep mixtape next to that park bench.”
So for a while now Zack has been working hard on his second All Things Go mixtape (check out his Valentine’s Day mix here), the ultimate sleeping mix. After much planning and deliberation, he approached me with trepidation yesterday with 11 tracks looking to flesh it out into a full 15-song mix (as is custom around these parts). Being the best friend ever, I delved deep into my iTunes library and pulled out the four best sleeping songs I could muster, all of which ended up making the final cut. I also volunteered to design the front and back covers, and the result is the most potent musical sedative out there, just check out the pictures above for evidence. Trust me, Ambien has nothing on this shit. I’d recommend listening to some of the later tracks individually in a non-sleeping environment, as you’ll be hard-pressed to make it through even the first third of the mix without falling asleep when nestled betwixt the sheets, which means the wonderful songs in the second half would be heard only by your unconsciousness and that creepy guy who watches you sleep.
Head over to All Things Go to peep the full tracklist and download the full mix; below is the album cover and the four songs I contributed to the mix.

Zack Friendly is now a veritable force in the blogging mixtape scene, look out.
————————————————————————–
If this were my sleep mix and not Zack’s I wouldn’t have done much differently (maybe removed that B&S song and chosen a different Dntel track), but I definitely would have put this song by Gregory & The Hawk on there, as it’s been the last song I’ve listened to before falling asleep every night for the last week and it’s just quite fantastic. Gregory & The Hawk are the first band I’ve discovered randomly on MySpace after stumbling across some girl’s profile (maybe someone who friended us?) which had this song in it (if you are that girl: thank you, we like you now). I’ll be doing a full-fledged post on them and other cutesy female folk singers shortly, but here’s this track now as it’s just perfect for the sleeping mood.
MP3: “Boats & Birds” - Gregory & The Hawk [highly recommended]
