Hung Up On Soul
I’m very sorry about the glaring lack of posts over the last few days, but I was in Ohio over the weekend and Everett was, uh, doing other stuff I guess. But no one should really care anyway because the Washington Wizards have fought back to tie up their series with the Cavs at two games a piece and that’s cause for universal celebration. As for those of you artsy indie rock types who just vomited at the unexpected inclusion of sports in this post, I apologize, but yeah, Gilbert Arenas > you. But back to what you’re here for, the music.
“Hung Up On Soul” had me all hot and bothered a couple months ago, but for some reason I neglected to post it until now. Another brilliant mash up courtesy of Party Ben, the same guy who brought you the ubiqiuitous “Boulevard of Broken Songs” mash up of 2004, “Hung Up On Soul” spices up Death Cab’s “Soul Meets Body” with Madonna’s excellent (yeah, I said it) “Hung Up”, and the result is four minutes of the most danceable Death Cab you’ve ever heard. Dancefloors, meet Ben Gibbard.

Ben Cohen, my lovable cohort over at Videoteque, being the video nerd that he is, created a wonderful music video mash up for the song, which Party Ben praised on his website, so I’d recommend you head over to Videoteque to view (and download) the fruits of his labor there. We also have the wonderful new Arcade Fire video for “Tunnels”, so at the very least you should grab that.
Finally, while we’re just randomly posting mash ups, here are two of my recent favorites, both involving Bloc Party, courtesy of Aggro1. I especially love the Pussycat Dolls one, grab ‘em below.
MP3s:
Bloc Party’s “Banquet” vs. The Pussycat Dolls “Don’t Cha”
Bloc Party’s “Banquet” vs. Fatboy Slim’s “It’s A Wonderful Night”
