Good Weather For CMJ
2 November 2006 |Well fuhhhhhhck. This whole ezarchive thing has been an absolute joke. I really would love to be a fly on the wall at their board meeting on Monday when they have to discuss the fact that by carrying out the shittiest upgrade ever they successfully lost at least 50% of their business. I mean, are there really non-bloggers who use ezarchive to share baby photos with their relatives as was implied by the old ezarchive welcome page? Methinks not so much. By introducing bandwith limits, eliminating direct file downloading (or introducing streaming-only or whatever the fuck it is they did) and requiring anyone willing to put up with their shit to re-update all of their links, they successfully did an incredible job of alienating and frustrating the shit out of what I presume are the majority of their customers. So anyway – in case you haven’t figured it out already – we’re packing up our belongings and moving far, far away from ezarchive to a better place. In this case our land of opportunity is Dreamhost.com, whose 500 GBs of storage space, 2 TBs of bandwith and good track record sound like music to my ears. We thought Fileden would work out for us, but after realizing that 5 GBs of bandwith per month wouldn’t even last us one day (as was the case when we tried it out last Monday), we’ve settled on Dreamhost.com as the best alternative. However, we still have to get our Dreamhost account set up and re-up all of our mp3s, so it’ll be a little while before we’re fully operational again.
On top of that, yours truly is currently attending CMJ (FUCK YES) in NYC this week (see below for the list of incredible shows I’m attending), so posting won’t resume until next Monday. Rest assured that there will be a new post on Monday, and that it will be incredibly awesome (*cough* M3 Volume 11 *cough*). However, the rest of the links on the site probably won’t be fully operational until the end of the week, so hopefully you’ll bare with us in the meantime.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some incredible shows to catch; below is the complete list of shows I’m catching this week.
The Knife @ Webster Hall (Wednesday, 10: 15 PM)
120 Days w/ The Virgins @ Cake Shop/VICE Late Nite (Thursday, 1 AM)
Hot Chip w/ Gang Gang Dance, Shy Child @ Webster Hall (Thursday, 6 PM)
Black Lips w/ Fucked Up @ Cake Shop/VICE Late Nite (Friday, 1 AM)
