Modest Mouse: “Dashboard”
Shots Ring Out is generally all over the big new video releases (and “Dashboard” is about as big as it gets), and yeah, they’ve covered it over there, but no download link? That’s just not nice, come on now boys. Thus, I’m taking it upon myself to step up and appease the masses.
Enough about that though, onto the video. The track doesn’t exactly scream “otherworldly nautical adventure”, but apparently Isaac Brock himself specifically requested the aquatic theme and directing team Motion Theory have done an excellent job realizing his vision, even if it is a bit visually overwhelming at times. A clever take on the “big fish” genre of tall tales, the clip features beautifully rendered computer-animated environments and brilliant special effects wizardry, all the while capitalizing on the epic-pioneering-adventure vibe of the song. “Dashboard” just might be my favorite song of the year so far (it’s neck and neck with “Our Velocity” and like, every single song on A Weekend In The City), and the video is one of the year’s best to date as well. Love it.

After A Weekend In The City, Maximo Park’s upcoming second album, Our Earthly Pleasures, was easily my most anticipated release of 2007, especially after “Our Velocity” surfaced and became my favorite song, like, ever. Fortunately for me and countless others waiting with baited breath, the album leaked today and I’ve been spinning it all day ever since. Definitely too soon to form an opinion on the album, let alone choose a track to post, but outside of “Velocity”, it’s “Your Urge” and surefire second single “The Unshockable” that are presenting themselves as the hottest tracks at this point. Can’t really help you with “The Unshockable”, but Spin’s got the hook up for “Your Urge”; get on it below.

A Fortnights time and Books from Boxes are the two best songs after Our Velocity. It’s a great album, i’ve been playing it nonstop for almost a week now. Almost 30times back to back.

Hey guys I had an old laptop running XP Pro. A couple of weeks ago, every time I would connect to the internet via DSL or wireless, the hard drive light would come on - as if it were writing something to the hard drive. It would cause IE to run slower than dial-up. I looked in task manager and although the CPU usage was high, there didn’t seem to be a process listed that was using it. I used LavaSoft Adaware to scan on a regular basis as well as Norton 2005. I eventually gave up and bought a new laptop (Vista Home), which now has the same problem. It is obviously related to something that I copied over to the new computer from the old computer. But the things is, Norton Internet security isn’t picking up a virus. I used it to scan everything before copying it on to the new computer. Has anyone heard of such a thing or had the same problem? I’d much rather be able to find and remove the problem rather than restore.

It seems to me that a lot of people with visible work put a lot of thought into it before hand.
Recently I discovered a rant on quite a respected figure in the tattoo community’s Myspace. I say rant, it was more like pure venomous hatred.
It would seem that some find young people with visible ink, impatient and disrespectful, and they must all just think it’s cool to have visible work.
I’m 23, My first tattoo was on my shoulder, then my wrists, then I got a full sleeve. Then I moved to my hands, then neck and I also have a large part of my leg tattooed.
It took me about two years to get the opportunity to get my hand tattooed by my idol, and then my neck by an artist I greatly admire, a lot of time, effort and thought was put into both of these.
Even though I’m somewhat older and do have a fair bit of coverage, I might still be classed as young and “under-tattooed” to have such visible work, and I can’t help but think that’s kinda crazy!
Sure I’ve seen some 18 year olds with kanji on their necks or poorly executed skulls on their hands, and you can almost tell they rushed into it, wanting everyone to see their new work as clearly as possible, and fine that to me is impatient and maybe even attention seeking.
Basically what I’m trying to say is that not everyone who has visible work is disrespectful to the art, some people invest a great deal of time, money and effort into getting that particular location inked with the highest standard work possible.
It’s kinda funny to find prejudice within a community that tries so hard to divert it away from itself.

Prelude - The events leading up to the start of World War Three, including Sept 11, 2001.
Act 1 - The Middle East. Widespread conflict to bring the entire region into the flames of war, possibly triggered by Iran or militants in Pakistan using North Korean supplied nuclear arms. The first Scene in this Act is the US Invasion of Iraq on March 20, 2003.
Act 2 - Israel at War — Against her Arab neighbors, possibly Palestine. A Palestinian State will be established, so that all Israelis will be fully separated from Palestinians (listen out for mention of a 7-year treaty to be confirmed by a World Leader - probably Bush), only for Israel to viciously attack Palestine shortly thereafter.
Act 3 - Far East — “Hair-raising nuclear confrontation that threatens mankind’s existence” - Peter Lemesurier, author of The Armageddon Script, p. 223, written in 1981. Includes China invading Taiwan and a nuclear eruption on the Korean Peninsula.
Act 4 - Erosion of Confidence in ‘The System’ so severe citizens will be panicked into giving up liberties and Constitutional form of government. The plan calls for the dissolution of the US Constitution, triggered by a significant enough ‘terrorist’ attack. The ultimate intent is to introduce a global government and one-world religion.
Act 5 - The collapse of the US, and other Western economies and morals.
Act 6 - Significant population reduction using natural and man-made disasters.

Oh what I wouldn t give to have been a fly on the wall during this luncheon. Here is Heidi Montag having lunch with Meghan McCain, who is none other than the daughter of Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain. And yes, Heidi is boring as usual with her straight blonde locks that never change. Meghan of course does not have the most inspiring hairstyle, but when your dad is running for President of the United States, fading into the background is much more requisite than standing out amongst the crowd. Heidi dressed as conservative as even she could I suppose, and styled her hair in the same boring style with the flat iron and the side part. One would think that if you are somewhat of a starlet and are going to be seen with the daughter of a Presidential candidate you might make more of an effort. However, maybe Heidi doesn t even understand the whole Presidential thing who knows! Shake it up Heidi! Her hairstyle is getting as about as boring as her storyline.
