…And We’re Back
Thanks to one Mr. Nicky Berger, who DONATED HIS ENTIRE SERVER TO US (seriously), we’re back in business. So yeah, we’re all ridiculously in debt to this man and owe him, like, at least 1,000 handjobs or something. Or maybe just a beer. We’ll see how things go.
ANYWAY, what better way to celebrate than with two incredibly sexy remixes from the freshly-leaked I Still Remember EP. First up, we’ve got SebastiAn’s rework which is just all kinds of ridiculous. I don’t even know where to begin, but one thing’s for sure - SebastiAn just established himself as the force to be reckoned with in the remixing game; he’s operating on a whole new level right now. I mean, just look at this remix. SebastiAn takes arguably the safest and most vanilla track on A Weekend In The City and turns it into an absolute MONSTER, drawing you in gently with some seductive spiraling synths before dropping the motherfucking beat at the 0:50 mark, like Zeus himself raining thunder and lightning down on the unsuspecting masses below. Things carry on like this the rest of the way out, as Kele’s “I should have kissed you!” yelps, punctuated by SebastiAn’s massive, bass-heavy synth surges, recall all the desperate urgency of Silent Alarm that’s sadly absent on the new record. SebastiAn, I bow before you.

Next up we’ve got Lull’s stunningly gorgeous remix of “I Still Remember”, the aptly-title “Music Box & Tears” mix. Heavy on strings, twinkly sounds and cinematic melodrama, Lull does for “I Still Remember” what Engineers did for “Blue Light” back on 2005′ Silent Alarm: Remixed - that is, he removes any semblance of guitars or percussion, turns the rock down to 0 and puts the track in ethereal mode and goes full speed ahead. Kele’s original lyrical template remains completely intact as synthetic strings wash across the mix in undeniably epic fashion and twinkling keys tug at your heartstrings like their name was Audrey Hepburn. So yeah, it’s good. Real pretty-like too.

Will the tracks from the last few days be reposted? I tried finding other links via Hype but you guys are the only ones with these supposedly amazing songs.
Thanks for everything!

I have to agree with you Derek, so much from the new record ends up falling flat because it lacks punch. I think it’s a production failure personally (why they picked Jacknife Lee I’ll never understand). So far all the remixes rate higher for me than the originals.

Thank you for this post. I love the original, but these versions are such an enrichment.

For fucks sake, I am sick of hearing about Ed Banger’s crappy tracks on the “blogosphere”. It’s like, yeah, amazing that the kids found the distortion knobs. All of it is nothing new.
