Let me get this straight. Bloc Party's new album is out in less than two hours, and Derek whose favourite band is supposedly Bloc Party has not posted a SINGLE THING about it?

He's been well and truly corporate-raped.

OKAY OKAY OKAY.

A) No need for sadness. I can't stress enough how much better the new blog is going to be than GWFAS is in it's current state. I mean, there's barely a new post every two weeks here, and I've already got enough content lined up for the new blog to have daily content (or at the least new posts every other day) for the first month after launch. Everyone seems to think this is some great tragedy, or that I'm going somewhere or that the fact that I'm only going to be posting artist/label-approved track is going to hurt the content. As a matter of fact, the VAST majority of tracks I've posted over the past 6 months I've had permission for, so really not all that much will change. So why don't I keep doing Good Weather For Airstrikes? Because I'm kind of sick of it. I'm tired of the name, I'm tired of my self-constricting formats (Artist Profiles, Single Reviews, etc.) and the OCD that prevents me from mixing things up here. Thus, I just want a new start. A new look, a fresh perspective and an original approach.

B) A final M3? I'll try, but I promise nothing. I had a really fresh mix ready to go last spring but had to put it on hold until all of the tracks on it were released (part of my effort to be less of a douche in the face of artist/label requests) and now it's not exactly brand spanking new, plus I've posted over half of the tracks from it now. REGARDLESS, my laptop crashed and DIED HARD last night, taking with it my entire music collection and even more tragically, all the artwork (think album covers, plus original pieces) I've ever done, making it even less likely that a final M3 will see the light of day. Most of the music is backed up on my pod, but my artwork... I'm never getting that shit back and yeah FUCK.

C) What blogs to I recommend/how do I discover new music? Not to sound like a prick but I don't really use blogs. I've got a couple I check religiously (Hipster Runoff, Transparent Magazine and Abeano) plus a few of the others on my blogroll I check less regularly, but for the most part I'll just use blogs to track down MP3s from artists I've been tipped off on by other sources. I've been working as a scout for a while now and thus have made a ton of contacts in the industry, so word of mouth plays a big roll in what I feature here. Also, never underestimate the with-it-ness of the UK music press, who are generally on top of their shit as much as any blogs are (well, except for this one).

Hopefully I don't come off like a big d-bag, I'm just real fucked up about my laptop dying and taking six years of my life with it. We good? I hope so.

Can't thank you enough for all the great recommendations. Didn't agree with all of them, but you have single-handedly transformed my musical tastes over the last few years.

I have to join the chorus in asking for a final goodbye M3 mix. And, since we're losing you (more or less), maybe you could give us a list of your favorite music blogs. I don't think I'm alone in wondering what blogs YOU read to discover new music.

And again, thanks for everything.

Been reading for a over a couple of years, easily the most consistent site for finding genuinely ace music, blog or otherwise.

Good luck with the label!

Good luck with your label!

And serious thanks for two and a half years of so much great music your blog introduced me to: Noah, Kavinsky, Justice, Wombats, Klaxons, SebastiAn, Gotye, Robyn, Spinto Band, Johnny Boy (knew them, but got those great rarities from you - my first entry into the world of gwfa), Mark Ronson, KSA, LCD, Teenagers, Lykke Li, The Do and, yes, da Pit. To name but a few.

Just browsing through all these old posts makes me realise again how much gwfa enriched my sets, my samplers, damn, most days of my life. Right now I´m listening to The Maccabees, and you know where I first heard of them ...

What´s that quote from "A Scanner Darkly" once mentioned here? "You´re either on it or you haven´t tried it yet." That´s it. Sums it all up nicely.

So: sad to see this go, but also good to see you starting a new musical empire. With taste. We need you.

Long may you run!
